Pour ce faire, il resitue le texte relativement à l’influence qu’eut la révolution haïtienne sur la pensée politique française, celle des romanciers du premier XIXe siècle et notamment celle de Victor Hugo : chez ce dernier, réécrire cette révolution est un geste politique. In this work, Carpanin Marimoutou offers a fresh interpretation of Bug-Jargal, examining its ideological discourse through the voices of the subalterns as portrayed by the young Victor Hugo.
