La réflexion sur la sensibilité débouche ainsi sur une critique des préjugés sociaux, religieux et politiques qui entravent l’exercice de la volonté. This article aims to analyse the paradox of sensitivity in Aline et Valcour through the contrast between the passive Aline and the active Léonore. While the former embodies a virtuous but powerless sensitivity, the latter illustrates a form of controlled sensitivity that allows for the assertion of an autonomous will. L’article étudie la façon dont il a eu un rôle positif majeur dans la construction identitaire et la vocation de Rupert, un enfant avec qui il a entretenu une correspondance épistolaire, qui montre à la fin du film qu’il assume sa propre homosexualité tout comme son désir d’être acteur. Ma vie avec John F. Donovan (The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, 2018) by Xavier Dolan recounts the fictional story (though initially inspired by the experience of Xavier Dolan himself) and the tragic end of the eponymous character, the spectator then reliving the events which precipitated the actor –a homosexual who hides his sexuality for fear of compromising his career– in his media downfall.
